There were plenty of smiles at St Wilfrid’s C of E Academy this morning as our GCSE students eagerly opened up their results.
The Academy saw its highest ever percentage of A*-equivalent grades achieved, as well as our overall progress score increasing from 0.06 last year to 0.27 this year.
The Academy would like to congratulate all our students who have worked so well and fought so hard for their results. A total of 39 students achieved at least one of the new 9 grades, with a third of all students claiming at least one A*.
Several students received a remarkable set of all 9/8/A* grades. Twin sisters Charlotte and Lucy Gregson each achieved 4 of the higher 9 grades. Morgan Dwyer received nine 9/8/A*s and Rebecca Baron and Alice Robinson each collected eight 9/8/A* grades.
Alice said “At first I was really nervous to open them, as the exams were quite challenging and I wasn’t sure how I had done. However, I was over the moon to find out that I had done so well – getting two grade 9s was very unexpected!”
Principal Cath Huddleston added: “We are delighted with the results our students have achieved this summer. Their efforts throughout the year, along with their dedication to revision and the phenomenal support from teachers and parents alike, has led to this success. I wish all of our students the very best for the future and hope to see many of them continuing their educational journey with us in our Sixth Form.”
