Our Summer Concert highlighted the musical talents of our students in KS3.
The orchestra set an ebullient tone for the evening with performances of ‘The Muppets’, ‘I’m a Believer’ and ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’. The String Ensemble gave a polished and moving performance of ‘Say Something’. Beatriz Tango took the Academy’s ne Steinway out for a spin with a dazzling and virtuosic piano performance of ‘Butter ies and Hurricanes’ by Muse. Jack Otobo gave a sensitive vocal performance of ‘Rise Up’ by Andra Day. With con dence and enthusiasm, the Year 9 GCSE class performed ‘With a Little Help From my Friends’ by The Beatles. The evening climaxed with
a performance of ‘How Great Thou Art’ arranged by Stuart K. Hine. This nal performance was dedicated to the memory of the late Gordon Appleton, Mrs Brennand’s cousin, who bequeathed the Makin digital pipe organ to the Academy.
