Registering for Free School Meals – Extra Benefits

If your child is eligible for Free School Meals, it’s worth registering them even if they’re not going to have the school lunch. This is because schools receive a ‘Pupil Premium’ – an extra payment for each eligible child which they can spend on useful services. This money will help Saint Wilfrid’s to provide extra support for our students like small group tuition in English and Maths, etc. The details of how Saint Wilfrid’s have previously spent the Pupil Premium shown below.

In order to check eligibility and apply for Free School Meals, you will need to contact your Local Authority. If you live within the Blackburn with Darwen area, the criteria and application to apply are attached. Applications do need to be made directly to the Local Authority.
