Inspiring to the Full

"I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow."
1 Corinthians 3:6-7

Who is planting the seeds in your life?

This week we consider the importance of allowing the right people to influence us and inspire us. We consider too how we may be an inspiration to others. Working in the education environment, we must remember the significant influence our habits, words and actions have on those we lead.

The Bible is full of examples of supporting partners. In Genesis 2:18 we read, “It is not good for man to be alone.” Partnership and companionship are part of God’s plan for us all, and we probably all know, too sadly, the negative consequences of loneliness and disconnection.

The apostle Paul was the author of many books in the new testament; in fact, 13 of the 27 are attributed to him. But on further examination, he often started his letters to the churches with, “Paul, and all the brothers and sisters with me…”, or “Paul and Timothy…”, or “Paul, Timothy and Silas…” Paul knew the importance of connection and partnership. He also knew that he was not self-serving but had given his life to serve God. We read in Titus 1:1, “Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ…”

Let us reflect this week on the purpose we have as teachers, to not only teach, but to inspire others. Let us look to grow our reliance on others, to see the importance of partnership and companionship, as we serve our school community. We ask God to help us see the growth in the students in our care and celebrate the part we all play in their development. We also lift those who are finding life tough at this time to God, that he will be their help in time of need.
