Transition

PARENT INDUCTION
EVENINGS
10th + 11th June 2024
Parents will attend a presentation from staff at the Academy and be introduced to some of the key details ahead of their child's transition from Primary.
SINGLE SAMPLER
SESSION
26th June 2024
This session is specifically for students who are the only ones coming from their Primary School.
INDUCTION
DAYS (x3)
3rd July - 5th July 2024
Students experience what life at the Academy is like, meeting other students and ‘sampling’ a few lessons.

We aim to make the transition process from Primary School as smooth as possible for all of our current and future students and have devised a strategy that encompasses their journey before, during and after the transition. This is a crucial time in a young person’s life and we strive to give a ‘wrap-around care’ approach to enable this phase to be seamless, with high-challenge and low anxiety.

Prior to joining the Academy, we visit each student at their Primary school, getting to know them and talking with their current class teacher. We seek to learn about their academic, social and emotional needs, as well as their plethora of talents.

We then enter the summer season with 3 important events as outlined below.

Parent Induction Evenings
Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th June 2024 (5:15pm - 6:15pm, door open at 5pm)

Our Year 6 Parent Induction Evenings will take place on Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th June 2024. Further information about the event will be sent out in due course.

Single Sampler Session
Wednesday 26th June 2024 (9:15am - 12 noon)

This morning is for students who are the only ones coming to St Wilfrid’s from their particular school.

Induction Days (x3)
Wednesday 3rd July - Friday 5th July 2024 (8:40am - 3pm)

Our Year 6 Induction Days will take place from 8:40am – 3pm on Wednesday 3rd July to Friday 5th July 2024 and will help your child experience life as a Wilfridian and see more of what the Academy has to offer. It is also a great opportunity for them to make new friends, meet our staff and for us to get to know them ahead of their start in September.

When September comes around and the academic year begins, the first two days are spent doing activities that help them become familiar with the environment and get to know each other and their Form Tutor.

Our Year 7 Student Support Team work closely with Form Tutors throughout the year, to provide a network of support for both students and parents. For any further information, please contact the Key Stage 3 POD.

In the Autumn, the whole year group is invited to go on a residential trip to Kingswood in Wales. Information about this will be shared in due course.
