This week we are thinking about living life to the full. It seems like a strange focus when we are currently facing restrictions and lockdown. But freedom comes from within. You can have the ability and permission to go wherever you want, but still be trapped by fear or hurt or memories that hold you back.
The apostle Paul wrote in Phillipians 4:11, “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.” Imagine, no matter what you face, being content. Paul wrote many of his letters from prison. He knew what lock-down felt like.
Paul also wrote to Timothy to encourage him to be content. In 1 Timothy 6:6-8 we read, “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.
Are you content with what you have? Advertisements are designed to make you want more. To always upgrade. Are you content with what you have?
This week, as we think about living life to the full, let us take time to be thankful for what we have. Let us be mindful of the desires that rob us of contentment and stop us living life to the full. Take time to listen to God’s voice. Ask him to help you know the difference between the voice of the shepherd and the thief.
