St Wilfrid’s Y11 student Caitlin recently won silver medal in the Judo at the VI Commonwealth Championships!
We sat down with Caitlin to find out more:
Q: How long have you been practising Judo for?
I’ve been training for 11 years now and love it. I go several times a week.
Q: Tell us about the competition and your opponents.
In this competition, you get scored for throwing, pinning and arm-locking. I competed against 2 ladies from India in my rounds. One of them was a senior, who we were competing against in the same weight category. She beat me in the final but it was close!
Q: How do you feel about your silver medal?
I’m happy with it! Although it’s not what I really wanted, I know it’s still a great achievement.
Q: What’s next for you?
I’m going to keep training and working hard. I have been given the opportunity to train with the Team GB Paralympics team so I’m working towards that and hopeful to one day get a call up to represent Great Britain.
