Academy compulsory uniform from September 2021
From September 2021, our redesigned uniform with Academy logos will be compulsory for all students. This change and period of transition was communicated to parents/carers in a letter during the 2019/20 academic year and again in a letter sent home with your child in May 2021.
When buying items of uniform ahead of September 2021, please ensure you are aware of the new requirements and that what you purchase complies with our Academy uniform policy. The changes were introduced for our current Year 7 cohort to enhance the current standard of Academy uniform and to ensure that we have a cost effective, smart uniform which is followed consistently by all.
The new uniform was designed in consultation with our student council and eliminates a level of ambiguity around uniform standards. For example, it provides a set standard of acceptable skirt length for our girls along with a suitable charcoal grey school trouser for our boys. There will also be navy blue trousers available for our female students. Trousers, skirts and blazers must have the Academy’s emblem embroidered on to them. These uniform items will be sold by both Whittakers and Grays, who also stock all other items of our official Academy uniform.
Our suppliers Whittakers and Grays offer trousers in a range of sizes and leg lengths to suit the varying needs of our students. The skirt for female students also comes in differing sizes and lengths to ensure that this is worn to the required knee length.
We trust that the advanced notices of this new requirement will have enabled you to plan any uniform purchases ahead of the next academic year. Despite these changes, our uniform remains very cost effective, as well as being more comfortable and durable. Our full Academy uniform policy is available on our website.
